West Central Lodges Shine at America 250 Send-Off Ceremony

The Pennsylvania Elks Association received outstanding public recognition on June 14, 2026, as State President Kris Benedict served as the keynote speaker during a special send-off ceremony for the Kittanning Firemen’s Band. The celebrated band is preparing to represent the region on a national stage as it performs in the America 250 Parade in Washington, D.C., commemorating our nation’s 250th anniversary.

Addressing a crowd of more than 100 attendees, President Benedict highlighted the rich history of the Elks organization, emphasizing its unwavering dedication to patriotism, respect for the American flag, and service to local communities. His remarks helped showcase the positive impact Elks Lodges continue to make throughout Pennsylvania while introducing many attendees to the mission and values of the organization.

While visiting the West Central District, President Benedict and his traveling companion, affectionately known as “Mom,” continued his unofficial initiative to visit all 77 Pennsylvania Elks Lodges during his term as State President. Stops included the Lodges in Latrobe, Norwin, Blairsville, Tarentum, Kittanning, Butler, Indiana, Apollo, and Johnstown, strengthening connections with members and communities across the region.

The ceremony also welcomed several distinguished guests, including District Deputy Designate Jason Cook ofApollo Lodge No. 386, Exalted Ruler Tim Volek of Kittanning Lodge No. 203, County Commissioner Anthony Shea, Attorney Robert Cypinski of Leechburg Lodge No. 377, State Senator Joe Pittman, and numerous local officials and dignitaries.

Events like these help shape positive public perceptions of the Elks and demonstrate the organization's enduring commitment to community, patriotism, and service. It was truly a great weekend to be an Elk.
