State College Elks Lodge # 1600 Trustee William W. Asbury recently attended an Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Elias Zeiders and Christopher Smerbeck, members of Boy Scout Troop 245.

For his Eagle Scout service project, Eli worked with the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), to manage the construction of a double-panel information kiosk, which holds information about the trail, wildlife, and potential dangers for hikers. The kiosk is located at the trailhead in Rothrock State Forest.

Eli’s Scout leadership positions include Webmaster, Troop Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and Historian. In addition, he earned 25 merit badges.

Chris’ Eagle Scout Project consisted of creating a cookbook, specifically using non-perishable food items, and donating the food and cookbook to the local Food Bank.

His leadership roles included Senior Patrol Leader, Webmaster, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, and Historian. Chris earned 24 merit badges.

The State College Elks presented each new Eagle Scout with a U. S. Flag and an Elks’ Eagle Scout Certificate. The Elks congratulates Eli and Chris on this outstanding achievement.
