  • 120th State Convention Recap

The 120th Annual Pennsylvania Elks State Convention, held April 29 through May 3, 2026 in Gettysburg, offered a dynamic and inspiring lineup of events that brought dignitaries and members together in service, reflection, and celebration. The convention officially opened Thursday evening with a powerful Opening Session and Memorial Service, presided over by State President Peter O’Polka. Following the Presentation of Colors, attendees gathered in a moving tribute led by Chairman Judith Mathews to honor departed members—one of the most meaningful traditions of the week. Throughout the convention, a full agenda of business sessions, committee progress reports, and seminars kept members engaged. Friday’s Opening Business Session featured updates across key focus areas including veteran's services, public relations, scholarships, and membership growth, along with the nomination and election of officers for the 2026–2027 association year. Attendees also participated in specialized sessions like government relations, membership, and training seminars, reinforcing the Elks’ commitment to continuous improvement and community impact. On Saturday, the convention expanded to include family and guests during the Open Convention Session, which showcased award presentations for Americanism, scholarships, and youth programs. A standout moment was the Lodges’ March supporting the Home Service Program, which tied directly to the remarkable milestone of $550,000 donated—a powerful testament to the generosity and dedication of Pennsylvania Elks members. The convention also celebrated individual excellence, including recognition of the Adult of the Year for Home Services, highlighting the life-changing work being done by those who serve individuals and families across the state, including our wonderful nurses. Adding to the tradition and pageantry was the beautiful flag ceremony, enhanced by the stirring performance of the Fife and Drum Corps, creating a patriotic and memorable experience to celebrate our Nation’s upcoming 250th Anniversary. for all in attendance. The weekend culminated in the State President’s Dinner, officer installation, and closing fellowship—bringing an unforgettable event to a close. From meaningful remembrance to forward-looking leadership, this year’s convention truly embodied the Elks’ enduring mission of charity, justice, brotherly love, and fidelity.
